This course is designed for the basic implant dentistry practitioner but equally for the aspiring restorative dentist who wishes to improve his clinical outcomes. The content is meant to address everyday soft and hard tissue deficiencies that these practitioners encounter and have become aware of. Sometimes these tissue deficits become a reason to avoid treatment or worse still, for treatment failure. Addressing these tissue deficits is fundamental to setting up a case for success. And a practitioner empowered with the knowledge and technique to do so knows this well.
The course will first lay a foundation with a clear understanding of the biology of healing and will build on this foundation by then teaching various hard and soft tissue grafting techniques. Participants will then learn a time tested decision making workflow to choose the most appropriate technique for a given clinical situation. Participants will also be taught principles of tissue management and suturing in order to achieve predictable clinical outcomes. Adjunct instrumentation and equipment for grafting will also be extensively discussed. In addition, participants will also gain an insightful understanding of material options available.
Our course dates for 2025-26 will be announced soon. Please contact us first to express interest. This is a didactics and hands on course that is provided in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
In New Zealand, the course is always conducted at The ACE Institute’s facility in Hamilton, New Zealand. Hamilton is also centrally located and is a short one hour drive from Auckland Airport. Shuttle pick ups from the airport can be organised on request. Hamilton is also served by direct Air New Zealand flights from Wellington and Christchurch. Jetstar operates flights between Hamilton and the Gold Coast/Sydney in Australia.
Our suturing models and our ethically sourced animal jaw and animal tissue models form the basis for many of the hands on exercises on this course. Our customised instrumentation kits add to the experience and focus on building dexterity with instrumentation designed for purpose. Various suture materials, bone graft materials, membranes, tacking kits and bone screw kits complete our repertoire of hands on exercises. You will also have an opportunity to use specialised equipment such as piezosurgery and a centrifuge for creation of plasma concentrates.
